Gayarak is a country that is mainly inspired by ancient Korea or rather the 3 Kingdoms that once existed within the Korean Peninsula amongst many other parts that reside outside of its main geography. Gayarak's name also comes from the word "Gaya" which is a reference to the Gaya Confederacy that existed alongside other kingdoms such as Silla, Baekje and Goguryeo or Groeyo as it would later be called. Gaya itself ended up being annexed within Silla and ceased to exist though Gayarak will serve as a reference to it due to it being a part of Korea's long and complex culture.
Most of the characters will have Korean-based names and even dress up in the traditional Korean clothing both peasant and noble to show just how faithful and accurate they are. In a way, Gayarak is a sort-of "fantasy counterpart culture" to ancient Korea before it got split into North and South Korea respectively. The main inspirations for my story are Water Margin along with elements of Avatar the Last Airbender and bits of actual Korean folklore (both historical and mythical) albeit changed to be its own story.
